We recently interviewed one of our founders, Christian Feldermann, who ran two half marathons in Spain back in March. He completed a half marathon in Olot in 1 hour 47 mins and another one in Banyoles in 1 hour 43 minutes. We tried to understand what motivates Christian to run and how he prepares for his races. Read the full interview below:
How did you decide to run the half marathons?
I run half marathons every year but I wasn’t able to do it in 2020 and 2021 due to covid restrictions.
What other races have you participated in?
I also ran a full marathon in Valencia a few years ago. It’s a totally different race but it was great. We used that opportunity to get to know the city and spent some extra days there.
How long did it take you to prepare?
The full marathon required some additional work and I started a more specific training around 8 weeks before the race.
Did you have a specific plan preparing for the half marathons?
I normally run three times a week and my normal routes include distances that are not too far from the half marathon distance anyway.
How did it feel to complete the half marathons?
I love these competitions in general. I like the “ambiente” and the whole experience. It’s also good to meet the other runners again and talk about their experiences.
What is your next goal fitness-wise? I know you like cycling too. Maybe you could share a bit more about that hobby?
I need to stay in shape because of a long-term health issue but I see it more as a hobby. These activities keep my mind clear and allow me to connect to nature and the environment. I prefer the mountains and the climbs because they add a bit to the challenge.
What advice would you give to our readers?
It doesn’t really matter what sport you practice if you enjoy it. It keeps you fit and healthy and gets you closer to nature and other like-minded people.
